Paddleboarding Boulters Lock to Cliveden.
For any paddle from Boutlers Lock we start in the lock cut which is directly opposite the carpark (£1 3 hours or free with an Advantage Card).
Paddling up stream from Boulters Lock you pass over the Ray Mill Island Weir and the beginning of the Jubliee River ( prefect for SUP Yoga & Sup Polo on the paddle boards and for juniors and beginners). 3 miles round trip
This first section has the footpath all the way to Cookham and we paddle our SUP’s on the right handside past Cliveden Reach which is always gorgeous as there are a few wild islands to navigate. Once you reach Cliveden we paddle alongside the lower grounds. It is possible to get out if time (some even opt for a picnic or a rest here if they have their NT cards go for a visit), no parking issues from this side!
Paddleboarding at Sunset – The golden clock of Cliveden is illuminated at sunset even from a distance it is quite visible. The river is very quiet in the evenings even in the warmest of months.
SUP for Lunch during the week are calming experience and great for either stress management or fitness. A wonderful way to enjoy nature at its finest in the middle of a working day.
Morning river paddleboarding adventures from Boulters Lock are never a disappointment and there are a few little hidden streams we can explore. If we are early enough we may catch the herons leaving their Herony at Cliveden Gourge.
We normally can reach Cliveden and paddle back in 90 minutes but that will depend on fitness levels, paddling skills and river flows/winds. If you get their quicker then you can venture up towards Hedsor Waters.
You don’t have to stand up on these super stable paddleboards; you can sit , kneel or even kayak them, it is all about having fun !
